世界史讀書會 公告
各位世界史的老師們：
大家好。今年五月將有兩位來自英國的國際知名學者訪台，一位是任教於英國倫敦大學瑪麗王后學院(Queen Mary College, University of London)的Professor Quentin Skinner，他是極具影響力的政治思想史家，專長是近代早期歐洲思想史、霍布斯（Thomas Hobbes）政治哲學，以及文藝復興時代的修辭文化。他獲獎無數、著作等身， 在政治思想史界享有盛名多年， 其簡歷可見。另一位是目前倫敦大學歷史研究所（Institute of Historical Research）的所長Professor Miles Taylor，他的專長是維多利亞女王時期的英國社會與文化、十八世紀後英國國會史、維多利亞統治下的印度。他除了研究受到矚目之外，近年來也帶領倫大歷史研究所進行多種歷史資料數位化工程，並積極建立英國史學界與其他各國之史學交流，是英國史學界重要領導人物，其簡歷可見。這兩位學者將分別於五月第二週及第四週訪台，訪台期間除發表專題演講之外，也將與學生對談。
在此難得的機緣下，我與台大的楊肅獻教授、台北大學的李若庸將共同設立一個工作坊，以「維多利亞時期的英國」及「歐洲近代早期思想史」為主題帶領學生研讀兩位學者的作品，一方面熟悉兩位學者的著作，以為他們的到訪做準備；另一方面，也使各校的學生能有交流討論的機會。目前，我們已擇定閱讀書單與閱讀進度，請見下方表格。此外，也已將各閱讀資料製成電子檔，將會請世界史討論會的助理轉寄給各位。討論地點在台大文學院第20教室，下午一點到五點，歡迎有興趣的老師可參與我們的工作坊，或各自帶領學生一起閱讀。
